Design Features Section: Anti-Vaping Persuasive Campaign

Other (Not Listed) Instructions:

Write a sample of the design features section of your final paper. Your assignment should contain the following: (a) title page, (b) body, and (c) reference list. Try to use your work from your Final Paper Background, rather than start all over.

To help you frame up your organization of the Design Feature paper for your Persuasion Campaign Concept Project, I am attaching an outline to give you some guidance. I hope you find this helpful.  Please remember this paper, too, is also considered a research paper so you are required to connect your design features to sources to that support your rationale.

I have also included an file that lists what is meant by "design features." This is the same file that is in the course module.

I have also included a file (Atkins and Rice, pages 4-5) from the course module that identifies a few of the popular persuasion theories frame design work. You will need at least one theory (Note: there are more theories than those listed in this article).

Continued thanks for your dedication to your scholarship and learning.

Pease and esteem,

Write a sample of the design features section of your final paper.  Your assignment should contain the following: (a) title page, (b) body, and (c) reference list.  Try to use your work from your Final Paper Background, rather than start all over.

The body of your paper should have the following sections:

Background: Provide a bulleted list of your (a) problem, (b) paper topic importance (i.e., who can use the paper and how), (c) target audience (no more than 1), (d) attitudes (no more than 2) and behavior (no more than 1), and (e) setting (no more than 2).  Do not provide any theory- or research-based justification (although you will have to provide this information in your final paper).  This section merely shows your instructor how your thinking has evolved over time.

Design Features: Identify and justify at least 3 persuasive design features that you will use.  Justify why you have chosen these design features, and also how these design features will work together ethically and cohesively to increase the impact of your campaign. Address how your campaign features work together to create content that reflects integration of diversity and inclusion in a way that is organic for the campaign sponsor. Support your claims with literature when possible.

The reference list should identify at least 5 pieces of literature, which can be primary research, secondary research, or theoretical readings assigned by the course or found on your own.  Try to have at least one for each design feature. Follow APA style.  Your paper should be no more than 5 pages double-spaced (not including the title page and reference list).

Anti-Vaping Persuasive Campaign
Background
* Problem- In the past year, vaping rates have increased, and the issue has significantly impacted young people, particularly high school pupils. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) conducted a study that found that in 2022, 4% of middle school kids and 14% of high school students in the U.S. reported using e-cigarettes. Vaping is unhealthy, and the prevalence of it in society poses a serious threat to the public's health.
* Paper Topic Importance- Public health experts and organizations that want to lower the rates of teen e-cigarette usage might use this study to their advantage. The paper can be used for planning persuasive campaigns to persuade young people to quit vaping.
* Target Audience- The communication campaign's target audience is high school students. Teenagers between 14 and 18, primarily high school pupils, comprise the target demographic. Targeting this demographic, which uses e-cigarettes at a high rate overall, can help prevent the public health disaster caused by e-cigarettes.
* Attitudes and Behavior
o Attitude 1: Since attitudes influence behavior, they should be the focus of any communication strategy. The target audience has certain views, one of which is that e-cigarettes are perceived as having less risk than other medications. Teenagers typically perceive using e-cigarettes as being less risky than smoking regular cigarettes.
o Attitude 2: Many young people drawn to vaping think e-cigarettes are attractive.
o Behavior: Vaping in group and peer activities is a common behavior that encourages conformity and peer pressure, which leads to an increase in teen e-cigarette use.
* Setting and Channel
Ї Most teenagers use social media, making it an ideal environment for a persuasive campaign.
