The Black Pumas at the 2022 Montreux Jazz Festival
The Montreux Jazz Festival is a prestigious music festival held annually in early July along the shore of Lake Geneva, Switzerland, and it features a wide range of musical genres from artists around the world. The festival has a long history since its founding and is known for its diverse lineup of jazz, blues, rock, and pop artists. This paper looks into the 2022 version of the Montreux Jazz Festival, held at the Montreux Convention Centre from the 1st to the 16th of July.
The Black Pumas Soul Group
The festival featured several globally renowned musicians from several genres of music, including John Legend, Stormzy, Tinashe, and the Black Pumas Soul Group. The Black Pumas, formed in 2018, led by singer and songwriter Eric Burton and guitarist Adrian Quesada got a slot to perform at the festival to drop their hit, Black Moon Rising. Alongside Max, the band took to the stage a charismatic double bassist, a dexterous drummer named Stephen Bidwell, and a dynamic brass section featuring highly talented trumpeters and saxophonists.
