The City of Sugar Land Fire-EMS data details incident data and information for different incidents. The data is from a variety of sources, and this will be helpful when responding to fires, accidents, and other emergencies. As part of performance monitoring, there are reports on incidents, interventions, and the impact of incidents on patients. The Sugar Land Fire-EMS presentation uses a data set to highlight operations and incidents with a professional response to emergency incidents.
There is coding to identify the different types of incidents when reporting incidents, but other details include the time and interventions, EMS calls, and location. Patients can be evaluated and get no treatment but require transportation. Some refuse treatment and are released, and others are treated and released or transferred to care. In some cases, patients can be dead on the scene with and without resuscitation attempted and transport. Incident types represent a description of the incident type code and are based on the data, and most incidents are EMS calls.
Based on a data set with 34 026 incidents and data for the period 6/1/2019 12:00 AM to 7/31/2021 12:00 AM, when considering where people were transported to, there was no transport for the majority of victims (Analyst Data Set). But then others were transported to the Houston Methodist Sugar Land and followed by Memorial Hermann Sugar Land. On the other hand, one person was transported to St. Joseph Hospital and another to the Woman's Hospital of Texas (Analyst Data Set).
The EMS call-transport result showed that most cases (10, 329) were transported with no lights or siren and followed by no transport (Analyst Data Set). However, there were only two cases where the patient was dead on the scene, and resuscitation was attempted with transportation. While most patient impressions at scene column incidents are uncategorized, the medics reported generalized weakness and chest pain or discomfort as the most common symptoms. Table 1 compares the number of Fire and EMS incidents. Resuscitation attempts and transportation are essential to reduce the risk of complications and death.
When considering the incident types, more than half of the incidents were in Emergency Medical Services (EMS) calls, excluding vehicle accidents with injury (incident type 321). However, there are concerns that the lack of transportation may fail to take patients to hospitals. 60% of the incidents were Emergency medical service (EMS) incidents from the subcategories EMS call, excluding vehicle accidents with injury (321) to vehicle accidents with no injuries (324). Dispatch and cancelation en route also indicate that some incidents may have cleared or canceled, and there are no incidents to record when units get withdrawn. Being canceled on scene/no patient found is different from dispatched and canceled en route. The main priority is emergent cases as there were 26 634 incidents then 7, 106 non-emergent cases, emergent downgraded to non-emergent cases were 166 while 39 cases being non-emergent upgraded to emergent (Analyst Data Set).
