The talk was a 2021 virtual session on SCADamp. The presentation is on youtube, but unfortunately, it does not mention the date anywhere. However, it was uploaded on April 28, 2021, on the Yiran Ai YouTube channel, indicating that it is probably an April presentation. I watched the recorded YouTube version. The event was held virtually, coordinated by the SCADamp director, Ally Steinweg. The main speaker was Jonathan Goode, an American author, playwright, and poet. Jonathan was speaking to the audience about the art of speaking. The video does not distinguish the virtual audience, but the discourse shows that communication students and instructors are the primary audiences in the presentation. Lisa Johnson, an international students’ instructor at the language studio, asks Jonathan, the speaker, to explain more to students about authenticity (0:52:02). Johnson’s questions hint at the audience of the talk.
Jonathan’s verbal delivery is excellent. First, his mood is high and composed. Jon, as the coordinator Steinweg calls him, does not inhibit any tension or stage fright. When Steinweg gives him the space to talk to the audience, Jonathan greets them and asks them not to reply at once because it would create noise in the online session. Jon’s voice is audible for all the audience. Exercise makes perfect, and Jon’s presentation confirms it.
