Citizen Kane Reflection
The film was released on September 5, 1941. It is an American drama produced by Orson Welles. Notably, the film has won many awards and has continued to entertain and reveal numerous thematic issues relevant to society. It is acknowledged as one of the best movies to be produced by Orson Welles. The main arguments presented in the film center on the difficulties of explaining someone's life after their death. Through the film, the producer tries to engage with the audience and poses the question: who was Charles Foster Kane? While many things a man can achieve in life, it does not imply that that is all there is about him. When trying to understand others' lives, we must appreciate that there are unseen and deeper things that define someone's values. The more profound things that are never revealed are the issues that drive people to achieve specific things.
While the public achievement about the person can give us an impression of what kind of life they lived, many things are unknown to the public. Therefore, Citizen Kane challenges the audience to look beyond a person's normal life and public accomplishments when they want to understand who a person was. Notably, we see how difficult it is to uncover and understand a person's life after they pass on. Many issues affect them and must be considered holistically in order to have a proper understanding of life. Kane is never present to disclose his own life. We must be amazed that if Kane had an opportunity to disclose his own story, there would be many differences with what others understand about him. From the film's events, we see that all people never knew the more profound things that drove Kane to do what he did throughout his life.
Another central argument presented in the movie is the myth of the American Dream. When Kane was young, he is given as someone who was happy and enjoyed playing outside their home. His happiness was present despite the many challenges they experienced during their life. He was happy and content. Kane experienced much peace and security whenever he was in the family house. After achieving what many perceive as the ideal American Dream, Kane becomes unhappy and feels unsettled. While he had financial security, he did not have emotional security to live ...
