Introduction
Vicky Jenson and Andrew Adamson directed the 2001 American computer-animated comedy film Shrek. The movie is a loose adaptation of the 1990 fairy tale picture book Shrek by William Steig (Alice and Ellis para 1). Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy, Cameron Diaz, and John Lithgow also provide their vocal talents. After a lifetime of ridicule and dread, the film tells the tale of Shrek, an ogre who embarks on a mission to save a damsel from a citadel guarded by a fire-breathing dragon. He makes an all-around companion in a chatterbox donkey and comes to terms with his authentic self.
