Released in 2014, Meet the Patels is an American documentary by Ravi V. Patel and Geeta V. Patel. It explores the expectations of the Patels' first-generation Indian immigrant family has while living in the United States. Meet the Patels is a real-life comedy in which Ravi Patel, a 30-year-old Indian-American, can be seen stuck between the love of his parents and the affection of the woman he wants to marry. This heartwarming and hilarious movie shows how love becomes a family affair. Without bringing anything to his parents’ notice, Ravi Patel had dated Audrey, a red-headed American lady, and then they called it to quit. On a family trip to India, Ravi promises his parents that he would definitely try to find his love in another woman. Then his profile is created on matrimonial websites in order to identify potential mates. Finally, Ravi’s parents realize that he should be with the woman he has been in love with, meaning Audrey. At the end of the movie, Audrey becomes a part of Ravi Patel’s family and does everything to win the hearts of his parents, such as she adopts Indian culture and traditions.
