Although mostly unrecognized, many of us are enjoying the fruits of Indigenous contributions in many areas such as agriculture, medication, science and technology, transportation, architecture etc. Indigenous nations in the America's have contributed significantly to the body of knowledge held today as well as being the innovators of many inventions such as canoes and kayaks.

1. Please share your thoughts in a short review of the film Rumble.
* Understanding the history of contemporary culture is important for a better appreciation of how our past has contributed to our present. Accordingly, one of the things that I have learned from the film was that the current musical culture that we enjoy today indeed originated from cultures that were deemed 'inferior' at some point in our history. One example of this was the question posed by Stevie Salas an Apache guitarist. This revises the whole narrative for anyone who does not know since we were taught that the history of colonization was to impart culture to minorities.
2. Were you surprised to hear about the Indigenous contributions to the world of music?
* Nonetheless, I was surprised about the huge contribution of Indigenous populations to the world of music. This is contrary to the belief that the things that we enjoy today are mostly the product of Western culture and colonization.
3. What other big ideas were you struck with as you watched the film?
* Aside from this realization, another big idea that struck me as I watched the film was that music has the power to define one's persona or culture through time. For example, the film showed how similar to Jazz music, Blues, and other musical genre originated from the Harlem Renaissance, which defined and highlighted the culture of the Blacks.
