Introduction
“Bros” is the first romantic comedy produced by a major studio about what happens during a relationship between two gay men. After watching the movie, I like the sense of the reality of the movie very much. However, as an international student, I also want to talk about the plots and market issues of the movie in combination with the Q&A and reading.
1. Thinking based on Specific Scenes
Bobby is a podcaster and director of the upcoming LGBTQ+ History Museum. At the film's beginning, Bobby declares in his live broadcast that homosexuality and heterosexuality are not the same species and says that "love is love." As a Chinese student, I have never seen this kind of movie, but the dialogue interested me, and I hope to see what happens next. However, the whole story is typical, from falling in love to having a happy ending. Throughout the film, l want to discuss two lines, the love line and the working line. The first is the working line. The board meeting in the LGTBQ museum happens several times in the movie. In the meeting, each board member represents a community within the LGBTQ. Whenever the camera cuts to this scene, they are arguing. I remember one scene where Cherry and Robert argued about the weeks to celebrate their respective communities. Before this movie, I thought the LGTBQ group was very united, and they should understand and tolerate each other, to face the harm of society. But after seeing this movie, I can't imagine they will also quarrel about their interests. In my opinion, this movie is real. The director does not praise LGTBQ for the sake of promoting them. All that happens in this film is actually their real life, which helps people in society to understand and tolerate such diversity rather than being sick of them. However, in my opinion, the same scene occurs too many times, which makes the movie's rhythm stagnate. The whole movie is driven by the development of Bobby and Aaron's love. If Bobby and the Board members' working methods can be diversified, I think the development of the film will be richer.
The second is Bobby and Aaron's love story. Specifically in the two-bar scene and the central park scene. Bobby's character is a bit chatty and self-reliant. His voice and walking style is not considered attractive enough by some...
