'Princess Iron Fan' Film Essay
This essay discusses the film 'Princess Iron Fan,' produced in 1941 (Goldstein, 2013). The film was referred to be the first Chinese and Asian animated film and played a critical role in changing the dynamics of the entertainment industry. The directors of the film were the Wan brothers, Laiming and Guchan. The film combines magic and animation to pass the intended message to the audience. 'Princess Iron Fan' contains a blend of American and Chinese action styles, making it interesting (Goldstein, 2013, 4:06-7:12). The cast and crew are motivated to develop and promote humor, making it memorable and outstanding. The film represents familiar culture to the Japanese and Chinese, attracting many fans. The film also uses fiction to describe its characters and integrates them into real-world existence.
The use of magic has been instrumental in promoting the film's theme and creating interest among the audience. The film is about a princess with a magical iron fan to put off the fire by generating strong whirlwinds. The iron fan has been significant to the residents in the west who experience frequent mountain fires. However, the Princess benefits from them by using the fan to put off the fire and help them stay safe. In return, they offer her goodies for her needs. The film spread the theme of love and care for others. This is seen when the pilgrims approach the Princess to seek her assistance. Sun Wukong, a monkey among the pilgrims, comes to the Princess and borrows her fan to help them put off the fires on the erupting volcanic mountains to cross to the other side (Goldstein, 2013 6:03). The Princess refuses, and Sun Wukong comes up with changing his body into a fly. He then gets down to her stomach through the mouth and throat, where he torments her by punching the intestines, causing her great pain. The Princess gives in to Wukong's request but gives him a fake fan, which stimulates the fires. The monkey then comes up with another idea of pretending to be Princess's husband, and he steals the real fan, which he uses to put off the fire on the volcanic mountains. When the fire is off, he returns the fan, making peace. This plot of the film shows that it is essential to share and spread love to help each other in times of need. By so doing, it becomes easy to create peace and live in harmony with one another.
The relationship between the characters is great since they are all determined to get help. In situations where their problems are solved, the characters live peacefully, and they have no worries about what might transpire or how they will conquer any adversities that might come along. Conflict only arises when one or a group of the characters are not willing to help their colleagues. The different capabilities among the characters are significant in enabling them to achieve their objectives due to their efforts to ensure they can reach their destination (van Krieken, Hoeken & Sanders, 2017). During the activities to develop strategies for the way forward, the audience can learn much about the characters. This is where the film reveals much about the characters.
The film lets the audie...
