Presenter 2 Yiwen Yang gives brilliant insights on the role of Evidence-informed procedures when medical practitioners are relating to patients. Over the past two decades, there have been concerted efforts to ensure that the needs of patients are prioritized and this can only be done when there are specified procedures on how to handle specific situations. Yiwen Yang supports this analogy by emphasizing the importance of giving assessment tests to patients before committing them to a certain treatment program. In the question of the importance of EIP, he clarifies that certain conditions cannot be overlooked or judged solely by the testament of the patients or the clients. The role of the doctor lies solely with the prioritization of client needs and this factor cannot be assumed. There are two kinds of situations when dealing with clients and the scenarios should be assessed individually. When a client needs medical help medical practitioners must ascertain the type of condition and the level of urgency. The patient’s words and perceptions or values cannot be solely relied on and tests or assessments have to be conducted.
He gave autism as a particular example and stated that some of the measured things include the mental capability and the speech level of the patient. These results then inform the medical practitioners on the type of help needed to help the client and the right professionals to handle the situation. EIP works solely with facts and does not emphasize the underlying notions and justification to a condition. Decisions are determined by the presented results that are contrasted to existing data and previous experiments on the same case.
