Letter to Family: American Constitution and Ideals

Essay Instructions:

Introduction: You are a recent immigrant who has moved to the United States to attend college. Your family has never been to the United States, and you are excited to tell them all about it, in particular the fundamentals of the U.S. government you are learning about in one of your courses.
Compose a 3-page letter to your family in which you outline the fundamentals of the U.S. government. Be sure to do the following:
Briefly explain the purpose of the Constitution. Use relevant and factual information in your explanation.
Briefly explain 2 American ideals (e.g., democracy, liberty, equality, justice, freedom, or opportunity).
Your explanation should include a definition of each ideal and your understanding of what those ideals mean to the average U.S. citizen.
Using what you submitted in your Week 4 Activity, explain how the current event article you chose serves as an example of one of the ideals selected
Explain how constitutional liberty has personally benefited or impacted you as a student or a citizen in the United States.
Provide 2 or more specific and relevant examples.
For example, Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 is a federal law that prohibits employers from discriminating against employees on the basis of sex, race, color, national origin, and religion. Title VII also applies to private and public colleges and universities, employment agencies, and labor organizations. So if you chose this one, in your letter you would identify this constitutional liberty and how it applies to you specifically, and you would provide 2 or more specific and relevant examples.
Cite all sources using in-text citations and a source list following the Strayer Writing Standards format.

Letter to the Family
Dear Family,
Receive my warmest greetings, hoping that everyone is well. I am fine and doing great with my studies. I am already adapting to this new environment. I have a fine room here in college, and my partner is very considerate. We have already become good friends. I am glad to inform you that Studying in the United States has been a wonderful opportunity for me because I have learned about the fundamentals of its government. Right now, I am busy preparing the notes on these fundamentals. This subject is full of fun and excitement since I am able to learn about the United States through real-life experiences. The nitty-gritty here is to become more independent and adaptable, which I believe I will achieve soon.
During the short period, I have stayed in the US, I have learned about its constitution and purpose. The US constitution aims to create a perfect union, establish justice, ensure domestic tranquility, and strengthen the nation’s security (History.com, 2021). It establishes national government and fundamental laws and guarantees certain basic rights for Americans. As a law-abiding citizen, I found it necessary to understand the US constitution to avoid being on the wrong side of the law. I am aware of what the constitution means to the American people, and it makes no sense to live in this mature democratic country without understanding what the law requires of the citizens.
I have also learned about various American ideals like democracy and freedom. Democracy is a system of government in which the citizens elect their leaders through voting (Graham & Svolik, 2020). The elected leaders represent the people in the government or legislature. They make laws, interact with their constituents and participate in debates and interview to advocate for the electorates. The US is a representative democracy, meaning that citizens elect government representatives (UShistory.org). Americans can participate in their democracy by voting in an election and contacting their elected officials. To the average US citizen, democracy assures them of fundamental values like freedom and rights. Freedom is another American ideal I have learned throughout my course. It is the state of having liberty or the ability to move or act without constraints. To the average American, this ideal gives them various freedoms protected by the constitution. Some of them include religion, speech, assembly, and the press.
The current event article I chose serves as an example of one of the ideals selected by exploring democracy as one of the major American ideals. This article explains that America uses a representative democracy as a system of g...
