Significant Pros of Mixing Religion and Government
Mixing religion and government empowers citizens with the freedom to participate in law-making. Church involvement in the law-making process protects the rights of people by providing a chance for religious leaders to criticize unjust civil authorities who support laws that lead to segregation, hatred, and divisions in society. Second, it encourages and supports free and fair elections where leaders can be selected based on their capabilities and strengths instead of their claims. Third, integrating religion and government also promotes national cohesion since leaders of diverse entities have shared religious affiliations and beliefs, which makes it relatively easier for civilians to support their ideologies (Hurley & Chung, 2022). Lastly, it encourages cooperation where people can work and grow together as a society regardless of their political and religious affiliations.
