Assignment 1: Personal Introduction & Educational Biography
Please use around 500 words (this would be about 2 pages if typed in MS Word) and address the following questions. Use the questions to help you write a well-developed personal essay so we can to know each other. Also, feel free to "Reply" to your classmates if you find things in common, i.e. hometown, goals, interests, hobbies, etc.
I also recommend your create this assignment (as well as your future writing assignments) in Microsoft Word so you can revise, edit and save before you post. It might take a day or two of development to compose your post.
For this assignment, you will write a brief narrative ESSAY where you will introduce yourself and illustrate your experience with reading and writing in a variety of different learning environments and contexts. Your assignment will be submitted by replying, i.e. "Rely" on this page.
Even though you are encouraged to respond to your classmates this week (we'll be doing a lot of this starting next week as we approach our main reading responses and critical reactions), make sure you reply to this page for your initial post -- do not submit your assignment as a reply to a peer's initial post. Replying to your peers will be be shorter, substantive replies.
Questions for Consideration:
- Tell us a little about yourself: where are you from, what are your hobbies and interests, etc.?
- Why are you attending Bellevue College? What are some of your personal, academic and professional goals?
- What has been the most positive experience you have had with reading and/or writing? Take your time with this question and narrate an anecdote, e.g. "story" that illustrates this experience.

I come from California in the United States of America and as a teenager, I like traveling and interacting with various people around the globe. When I was growing up to a young adult, I developed a special interest in swimming, something I always did in summer at different places and nations during my numerous tours. I grew up in a family setting where children get everything they need from good parents. I developed a tremendous passion for reading and writing during my school days and could always perform well in languages since childhood. My parents offered me complete support in academics and it became an obligation for me to perform well in school in an attempt to make them proud. As a student, I have dedicated my effort to becoming a writer, concentrating on novels and journals. When my parents were looking for a good institution for me to enroll, I learned that Bellevue College is ranked as one of the best institutions in intensive English programs. And, this fact outgrew my interest to move to Washington and upgrade my studies because I was confident that the college will help me to improve my skills and knowledge in reading and writing. I wanted to join Bellevue College to polish my skills and accomplish the academic goals of once becoming a professional writer.
