you could talk about Chaucer. In fact, I would like to see discussion on all of those topics, so if a point you were going to make has already been made, there's lots more to choose from. Regarding Chaucer, as always, feel free to look around on the Internet to see what is out there (there will be A LOT), but really focus on what we've read. The General Prologue, as I mentioned, is probably the most famous Middle English text. Why do you think this text has endured? What do you think Chaucer was trying to do? Why do we tend to like it so much? As far as the Wife of Bath goes, her prologue raises many interesting ideas, and in a traditional class, it often gets some lively conversation going. What topics does Chaucer raise through her? What is your opinion on this? Are these dated topics, or are they still relevant today? Is she a feminist? An anti-feminist? Does it make a difference that, although she is female, the actual author was male? I look forward to your conversation.

It is quite noticeable that the languages that people speak around the world have some relations in them. When people came together to do business or learn, and fight at other instances, there was exchange of vocabularies that influenced the growing of a new language or the close association of two or more languages. In England, the English that was spoken in old age is not the same as the one being spoken today. Indeed, the war between France and England that lasted a century led drastically changed the English language from what was known as the old English to the Middle English (Bryson, 1990). Consequently, the English language has transformed since then to what it is today as Modern English.
