1 As stated in Chapter 1 of the book, the primary definition of systems development is a “process for planning, creating, testing, and deploying an information system.” Although this process relates to the process from conceptualization to actual implementation of information systems, the problem with this kind of system is its target. Specifically, systems development is focused on creating established structures, infrastructure, and procedures to achieve a specific set of goals. This is beneficial when the organization is just beginning to find the best ‘routes’ or ‘procedures’ for solving a problem. However, this issue may lie in its ability to reduce waste. In contrast, a Holistic Enterprise Architecture Process aims to reduce waste or surplus and even to consider various factors in the development process.
