Life is a process that entails a number of stages. Generally, this process consists of three major stages that include childhood, middle age, and adulthood (Falvo, 2010). Aging is not a mistake nor is it an illness. It is as a collective process that results from several changes that take place progressively in the course of an individual’s life. Pathological conditions are the normal changes associated with typical aging. These conditions are closely related to aging and are thus not said to be part of the normal aging process. Therefore, it is important for patients and healthcare professionals to be able to recognize the difference between changes as a result of normal aging process and pathological changes (Joanne et al., 2010). However, pathological changes do not occur on their own. In this way, once they occur, they are inscribed into those changes linked to normal aging. Consequently, in comparison, older adults and younger adults will depict differences in the way they present some conditions, symptoms experienced, and response to treatment (Hovey et al., 2011). Different people, age at different rates. Some people will look socially, mentally, and physically older at 50 years as compared to others at 65 years (Falvo, 2010). In order to ascertain the influence of age in healthcare, I interviewed a friend on his experiences with the healthcare system by asking a number of questions.
