Adolescence refers to a transition period from childhood to adulthood. Teenage or adolescent pregnancy is a pregnancy recorded in girls aged 10 to 19 years. It is a public and social health problem globally. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (2021), social determinants of health, including economic hardship and illiteracy of the teen's family, increase the probability of the teen's pregnancy. In addition, teens in specific settings recorded a higher risk of pregnancy than other groups. For instance, young girls in child protective services are more than twofold likely to get pregnant compared to other counterparts, not in foster care. Research also indicates that the lack of comprehensive sex education is a precursor to teen pregnancy because girls lack information on sexual assault, rape attempts, and modern contraception (Bain et al., 2020).
