OP-ED Penn state COVID Policies
The people’s smiles, concert crowds, family gatherings, and hanging out with friends; these are just a few of the things that we have taken for granted but are now missing because of the pandemic. Earlier this year, President Joe Biden imposed an executive order that mandates vaccines for federal contractors. Penn State is one of the states that has mandated the Covid-19 vaccine for its seven campuses, and soon, it will be extended to two more campuses at Berks and Schuylkill. By December 8, all employees that are affiliated with them are expected to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
At the core of it all, the leaders of the state believe that vaccination is our key to returning to normalcy. But is there a return to normalcy? The COVID-19 pandemic has paved way for plenty of society’s ways to drastically change. From Work to Academics, to Forums, many of the ways that we have traditionally done have been accommodated in digital spaces. In these digital settings, we can simulate productivity, and enhance learning. However, people need ample time to adjust to the demands of our times.
Penn State has a strict and immediate response to COVID risks. They promote health protocols and minimum health standards so that they can protect the community for COVID-19.
