What concrete recommendations would you offer Jan to turn around the Avon brand?
While Avon might have been successful because of the quality of its products and the end-to-end business model, most of its success, even though unsaid, came from the brand's alignment with a critical social mission: the empowerment of women at the time when they needed it most. Therefore, as Jan begins the journey to revive the brand, a new strategy should be mission-based, offering both profits and societal transformation. Such a mission will give the organization, employees, stakeholders, customers, and reps a sense of purpose more significant than the need to earn a livelihood.
