Cherokee religion is the traditional spiritual belief system of the Cherokee people, a Native American tribe located primarily in the southeastern United States. They observe two primary distinguishing ethical tenets or rules: harmony and balance and respect for ancestors and traditions. A critical ethical tenet of the Cherokee religion is maintaining harmony and balance in all aspects of life. Cherokee religion also strongly emphasizes the importance of respecting and honoring one’s ancestors and the traditions passed down through generations (Isaacs, 2019).
