Define politics, Political Science, and how the field relates to Comparative Politics and International Relations. What are/is the role of citizens in a subject or participant political system?
Politics is usually an exciting aspect in which people with different views disagree on how they should live. In essence, politics is an activity that entails people making, preserving, and amending rules under which they live. As such, in an academic context, politics entails the study of this activity. Notably, politics exist due to people having different opinions, varying wants, competing needs, and opposite interests, resulting in disagreements on how they should live (Jervis 2). According to Wiley (n.p.), politics determines who gets what, where, when, and how. On the other hand, political science can be defined as a systematic study on how politics are undertaken. The study focuses on governments' practice and studying political activities at the local, state, national, and international levels (Jervis 2). Political science is a social science that studies various systems of governance, political activities, behaviors, and constitutions, public policies, among others.
In essence, comparative politics can be defined as a component of political science. Comparative politics is the study of different political units and systems among countries or citizens, either as a whole or in parts, and then analyzing the similarities and differences between them. In most cases, comparative politics entails integrating comparative methods to explore and compare political dynamics among countries. Notably, in most political systems, especially those with democratic-related dimensions, entail broad citizen participation. The citizens' main role is to take in political activities like voting to determine the people who will hold different political positions. Citizens ate also mandated to hold the elected leaders accountable and keep check of their political activities. In this sense, citizens control politics by determining the people who control their country's political landscape.

In most cases, the terms nation and states tend to be classified as having the same meaning. They are usually interpreted as a particular geographical area where people living in it perceive themselves to have a particular common identity. In essence, this statement can only be used to define the term 'nation.' On the other hand, the term state refers to a political entity associated with a specific entity (Peter et al. n.p). A state describes a situation that identifies a political unit to have self-identities that gives it political legitimacy that tends to offer sovereignty for a territorial unit (nation).
