Impact of COVID-19 in Canada
Statistic Canada conducts researches to enable the government and other fundamental service providers in Canada to find data to plan for future service needs. As a result, this essay presents the purpose, elements, and method of data collection by Statistics Canada on the effects of COVID-19 in creating discrimination among people.
Statistic Canada researched to find out if COVID-19 has brought any form of discrimination against any specific organization, groups of people, and amongst neighbors. The study was open for voluntary participation irrespective of age, gender, race since it targeted discrimination in Canada. This went on from August 4 to 24th, 2020. Moreover, caregivers had the authority to fill the questionnaire for people unable to do so and children. Therefore, a sample of people in all the categories stated above participated. The method of data collection was through an electronic questionnaire that lasted between 5-10 minutes per individual (Statistics Canada np.). As a result, willing participants filled an empty template posted in the Statistics Canada database, their authentic experiences, and uploaded the filled questionnaire for expert analysis. The type of data is collected from people of different races. In the end, the analysis would aim at highlighting the effects of the pandemic on different people. It was not a probabilistic data but more of a qualitative analysis after the results are received.
