Dubai History
Dubai is located in the United Arab Emirates and has a fascinating history. Research shows that Dubai dates back as early as the 18th century. Archeological studies of Dubai indicate that the city has existed for more than 4000 years. Throughout these years, the city has greatly revolutionized and achieved great lengths of civilization. The area was initially inhabited by Bedouin tribes who lived a nomadic lifestyle and relied on fishing and pearl diving as their primary sources of income (Wang 32). During the 1830s, Dubai's commercial hub grew much faster than anticipated due to the constant stopovers of traders on their way to and from India and other nations across the world. During this period, the port of Dubai expanded even further and more commodities such as textiles and pearls were transported between counties. This pace of growth continued further to the 19th and 20th centuries, which consequently expanded the port's capacity even further.
One important notable moment in Dubai's history was during the 1940s when the discovery of oil happened in Dubai. This further prompted the development of magnificent infrastructures and increased modernization in Dubai due to the many incomes generated from the sale of oil. In 1971, Dubai was officially included in the United Arab Emirates. Since then, till now Dubai has maintained close relations with other UAE counties and the United Kingdom. Dubai has constantly received tremendous support from the United Kingdom over the years. Today, Dubai is known for its cutting-edge infrastructural design, its Arabic culture, as a great commercial hub, a great tourist attraction place and its highly opulence lifestyle.
Dubai Government
The current government of Dubai can be described as a constitutional Monarch constituting a federal system. The head of the monarch is called the Emir, who serves as the head of state as well as the highest executive power. Currently, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum is the Emir of Dubai. Equally, apart from the executive body of government, the federal system of government equally comprises a legislative body of government. The legislature is governed by the Federal National Council which is appointed by the Emir.
Over the years, the Dubai government has greatly supported economic development in the city. It has done this by ensuring the city remains attractive to investors.
