Youth culture has had a very long history in sociology and other social sciences. It simply refers to the cultural behavior and practices that are prohibited by the youth social group (Williams, 573). It also refers to the kind of identities and groupings formed by the youth. Traditionally, the term youth has been generally used to refer to juveniles and adolescents. In other words, the term was used to describe any member of the society who is yet to gain the age or status of an adult. As a result of this definition, the youth had their associations that were distinct from those of adults. For instance, we see some periods where the youth would come up together and become powerful agents of social change. A great example is the upheavals being experienced at the time that influenced the nature and sociological approaches to youth culture (Duncombe, 176).
