In the passage, Plato asserts that kings and rulers need to be people interested in acquiring wisdom otherwise the public suffer. Plato compares philosophers and leaders because they are opposites. Philosophers are concerned with acquiring knowledge, which helps them get a better understanding of the world. Using the acquired knowledge, philosophers come up with theories ranging from sociological, political, and economic subjects.
