In the Ancient periods, people believed that dreams were used to foretell the future. In case a person had a dream, one would consult the oracles and priests to interpret them. Additionally, there are several instances in the bible when priests were consulted in such scenarios. For example in Genesis 41, when the pharaoh had a dream. In the bible, Joseph was endorsed to interpret the dream of Pharaoh which stated that Egypt would experience famine for seven years. Through the dream Egypt was able to avoid the disaster. The bible is one of the ancient literary sources that has recorded the interpretation of dreams in various contexts.
