Propaganda is a type of planned communicated intended to affect the minds of, actions and emotions of the people for a particular purpose. It is the widespread of bias and misleading information. The primary aim of this misleading information is to influence public opinion instead of communicating facts about a subject. In the Novel 1984 by George Owell, the power of propaganda can clearly be seen. The novel impacts the readers and makes them think about the contemporary world. Orwell predicts correctly the future which serves as a warning to the people. He predicts various things like the advancement of technology, surveillance, and the internet being used to control the world and spread fake news. The depiction of the novel where free thinking is rewarded with torture, where people are monitored all the time, and where propaganda of the party supersedes free speech and thought is a sobering reminder of the evils of inexplicable governments.
