Social media enables people to distribute a lot of information by creating and sharing content in applications and websites such as wikis and blogs. Social media has continued to grow due to variety and mobility (Nielsen 2012). Information found on social media may lack evidence because anyone can post anything on social media whenever they feel like posting. It is, therefore, important for people to evaluate the credibility of information found on social media. Evaluation of credibility of the information found on social media can be through various methods. One of the methods is self-efficacy. Self-efficacy generally involves evaluating credibility of the information found on social media platforms based on personal knowledge, opinions, and views concerning and regarding a particular topic in social media such as health and politics (Benedicktus et al., 2010).
