Arguments in the movie Mr. Hollands Opus
The movie Mr. Holland’s Opus focuses on Glenn Holland who became a high-school music teacher, became closer to students, but farther apart from his wife Iris and Cole their deaf son. Logos is using evidence to appeal to the reason and intelligence of the audience. Ethos relates to arguments based on authority and honesty of the speaker or writer, their credibility and relationship with the audience. Pathos is an emotional argument that can also target changing opinion and utilizes empathy. The film’s themes are that creative thinking, music, and performing arts supports student learning and a strong father-child relationship is essential for growth and avoiding loss.
