Reminders
Brainstorm for topics.
Accumulate as many details as you can about your topic, and then sift through them, discarding those that are irrelevant, weak, or unrelated to the impression you would like to convey.
Organize your ideas.
Use vivid language and varied sentence structure.
Remember this is not a narrative. This essay is based on painting a picture for the audience.
Check the syllabus for due dates.
Writing Approach
In this essay assignment, description will be the dominant technique used to develop a distinct impression of your topic. Remember that description must appeal to the senses: taste, touch, sound, sight, smell. While you need not appeal to every sense in your essay, be sure to give the reader enough description so that he/she can be a part of your topic’s development. You may certainly use figurative language in your descriptions – simile, metaphor, personification, etc. In any case, be aware of your audience (your classmates) and your tone. Your choice of words may greatly influence your reader’s impression of your topic. Be careful to present your topic as you would like it to be interpreted.

Importance of Traveling
Augustine of Hippo said, "The world is a book, and those who do not travel read only one page." Many meanings can be derived from the quote above by Augustine of Hippo. However, the quote best describes what traveling is all about. If the world was a book, then each of us and our communities lives within a particular page or chapter. This means the same knowledge, routine, food, experiences, and ways of doing things. Traveling, therefore, means flipping through other pages within the book to experience and understand the ways of life of others that are different from one's locality. Thus, based on this quote, the article aims to describe why traveling is essential.
Importance of Traveling
Many reasons cause people to travel. Often, business and tourism cause people to move from one point to another. This appears easy in the modern world due to developments like high-speed trains, airplanes, and improved seas transport. However, traveling has been occurring since ancient times even if people had to endure the excoriating nature of long journeys and the things unknown about the destination. The scholar has established several reasons that make traveling necessary.
Firstly, traveling provides exposure to new cultures. In other words, people step out of their comfort to become accustomed to the that many cultures are different from ours. When people travel, they have access to new cuisines not found in their culture, language, music, traditions, and clothing. Traveling is a learning experience that expands one's imagination and knowledge about the world through all human senses of hearing, seeing, tasting, touching, and smelling. Exposure to new things like food, music, dialect, and ways of life helps people be open-minded. According to Chen and Petrick (pp. 8), this is vital for global humanity because people realize that their differences make them similar.
