The novel Frankenstein is a tale of destruction and creation written by Mary Shelley and published in 1818. The novel represents the gothic genre that emerged from 1760 to 1820, and it was linked to the development of new types of literature. Gothic literature was ubiquitous during the 18th century, and most publications had to follow popular culture (Shelley, 1818). Gothic can be defined as super nature, family cure, death, horror, and mystery.
