Difficulties of Industrial Work
Conventionally, industrial work means work where the manufacturing of goods or infrastructure improvement takes place. Industrial workers play a pivotal role in the economic development of their respective countries. They also make lives more bearable, and their output is indispensable. Ideally, industrial workers should work for shorter days with low work intensity. In addition, they should enjoy high job flexibility and better remunerations. However, this is not usually the case since most of them are constrained to work under unfavorable environments and conditions (Olsen 367). Some of the difficulties that industrial workers face in the line of duty include unfavorable working conditions, poor remunerations, insecurity, and long working hours.
Over the years, industrial workers have had to work in conditions that did not favor their well-being. For instance, the Chinese workers who built the transcontinental railroad had to work under such brutal weather conditions as blistering heat and biting cold (Reconnecting Roots). In addition, as in the case of Chinese laborers, many industrial workers are overworked to maximize profitability. Sometimes, industrial workers have to work far away from their families (Levine par.1). These and many other conditions tend to take their toll on the physical and mental health of the workers. In some extreme situations, workers lose their lives, while others are permanently separated from their families and loved ones.
