It might sound so crude or outdated in the modern American life, but it doesn't change anything about me. This is me! I am the third born child of my parents but was raised by my mother-single handed. I have got five siblings. My parents got ‘separated' when I was a kid at a tender age. I quote the term separated because it was not an actual separation. The separation came regarding responsibilities. My father boycotted his responsibilities as a parent despite the fact that he worked at a nearby fruit farm.
I have never gotten to understand, but up to now, my mom still supports my father's decision of boycotting his duties. She has always covered him up. It could have been an agreement, who knows? Putting that aside, let me get to my siblings; I will start by defending them or excusing them that the environment we grew up in nurtured them to choosing the paths they chose. I won’t mention the paths they chose here, but I guess one can deduce from this statement that at the moment; "I am the only child in my family who has gotten at a college level of my studies and am the only hope and future for my family."
My mother also and still works at the fruit farm where my dad works. She has always ensured we got what we needed. I have never up to now gotten what I wanted. She ensured that the food was on the table, the house we live in upcountry is in good condition and that we all went to school. I ...
