Challenge in My Professional Life Experience
When I joined The Common Future Fund (CFF) in Beijing, China I worked on multiple projects dealing with the refugees in Turkey. This proved to be very challenging, especially when I was writing reports on the refugee crisis in Turkey. When I was collecting information from the refugees, the information I received was heartbreaking.
In February 2017 I visited the Syrian refugees in Istanbul area. I met a young woman of Islamic origin (name withheld for ethical reasons). She narrated to me her encounters in the hands of the Syrian terrorists. It was late Friday evening before they had their supper when a stranger knocked at their door. Their young son, 6 years old, went to the door to respond to the visitor. He opened the door, and they welcomed the visitor. In the usual Syrian culture, you embrace the visitor first before asking them questions about their visit. They had supper together with the stranger, and after supper, her husband asked the visitor to introduce himself. At this time his son had gone to sleep after having supper. Before the visitor could introduce himself the house went up in flames, little did they know they had welcomed a suicide bomber to their home. The cries were all over in the air, hoping and wishing someone could come to help them. Fortunately, she survived and got help from people she thought were going to help her, that marked the beginning of another inhuman encounter. The rescuers were part of the terrorists, she was taken to a house where she was locked in for over three months eating very little food and to make matters worse she became a sexual...
