I am writing to express my regret for over-speeding, which is a traffic offense that can cause harm to myself and other road users. In particular, such behavior is unacceptable and could have far-reaching consequences, particularly if an accident would have occurred. I should be mindful of myself and others while driving. As such, I am responsible for my actions and ready to change my behaviors positively to foster road safety.
Over-speeding is a significant traffic offense that can lead to severe injuries, property destruction, and death. I understand that reckless driving is a major cause of road accidents. This is evident from the case of the University of Georgia Athletic (UGA) where two people were killed and two others injured. The accident occurred after the SUV they were driving in went off the road and hit two power poles and several trees (Caldwell and Nottingham). Chandler LeCroy, the SUV’s driver, was over-speeding while trying to race another car driven by their colleague, Jalen Carter. Specifically, the accident was caused by the reckless actions of LeCroy for not observing the traffic rules. As such, the lives of two people, including a budding University of Georgia football player, Devin Willock, were lost.
