The popular culture and entertainment sensation that was prominent during the Roaring 20s was jazz music. This was when the United States was growing economically and socially (Kanger et al. 48). People attended jazz clubs, especially women, and “flapper girl” became a common aspect of pop culture.

Advancements in automobile production and electric power led to many changes. People could not live far away from their place of work. Women and younger people also had more independence and could travel for entertainment and shopping. Electric power was important in the invention and development of new home appliances and electronics (Kanger et al. 48). A majority of the group that benefited from these societal changes includes women who now had more electronics that made their work much easier at home, such as washing machines, electric cookers, and other devices. The minority groups, including people of color, were left out since their lower socioeconomic status meant that the new products such as automobiles and electronic devices were very expensive.
