United States Constitution
The United States Constitution is vital for the proper functioning and preservation of the State as well as its people. Being the supreme law of the land, every law that was and would be passed must bow to its supremacy or else be declared null and void. Accordingly, the Constitution is one of the main reasons as to why the country has created a strong, balanced, and efficient political structures that led the United States to where it is today. In this article, this importance would be explained in greater detail. All in all, the author of this article believes that the source of the effective policies that we have today could be traced back to certain constitutional mandates.
A Strong Government
One of the main aims of our forefathers in drafting the Constitution is the creation of a strong national government. One of the ways in which it did this was the establishment of an ‘Executive branch’, which is governed by the President. A provision that was not yet included when the State was still governed by the ‘Articles of Confederation’ CITATION Means \l 1033 (Meadows). Nonetheless, the creation of this branch has led to the unification of the country as a whole. Additionally, it also created the Federal Courts, which empowered the Federal government as a whole. Through it, the State is ensured that its laws are properly enforced all over the nation.
Limitation of Powers
A strong country is one that has a balanced political structure. Stability prevents despotism or any other abuses that could be committed by one individual or instrumentality or branch of the government.
