Subject and Section Professor’s Name Date The Disappearance of the Neanderthals             The Neanderthals mostly lived during the Middle Paleolithic Period, but evidence showed that they were also found during the Upper Paleolithic Period (Groeneveld). Speculations from different scientists exist as to the disappearance of the Neanderthals. The Neanderthals exited life on Earth for possible reasons that we shall discuss in this paper.              Evolution results from the adaptation of a species from environmental conditions, resulting in changes in the genetic composition. One of the factors for the alterations is climate change. Studies have shown that the ancestors of the Neanderthals had evolved with the Neanderthal-like features secondary to the abrupt changes in climate from a warm and stable environment to cold tundra. This may be why its possible ancestors, the Homo heidelbergensis, had broad and long lower legs to have a sound body cooling system than the Homo neanderthalensis, who have shorter and thinner lower limbs (Dorey).             Another evidence contradicts climate change as their disappearance is due to their preference for isolation. This study claims that the Neanderthals are flexible and can adapt to changing conditions. Their disappearance is estrangement compared to their cousins, the Homo sapiens.
