The church of San Carlo alle Quattro Fontane and the Cappella Sansevero buildings are both Christian religious buildings built in the 1600s and 1700s, respectively (Hills 49, 55). Both buildings are marvelous in their architectural designs. It is a general knowledge that ancient architectural history was quite appealing, and not many people understood design. However, it is impressive to see how the artists achieved such great work that brought together the elements of art and design. Before this class, I had high expectations of ancient art, and true to the designs, my expectations were met.
I have seen several ancient buildings on print and visual media. I have also visited some of the ancient buildings for different reasons, such as sightseeing, among others. I never took much interest in understanding the art and design aspects of constructing the buildings I visited. Additionally, I also saw the need to have complementary sites with different designs. However, it is notable that the ancient designs informed urbanization, helping me appreciate the input that architecture has on development.
