The American Dream
The United States is a country that was founded on the values of inalienable and various natural rights to liberty, life, and the pursuit of happiness. From those principles came out the ideas of the American Dream and the American Creed. These two ideas have offered great aspirations for most Americans to chase their dreams, and through working hard, the opportunity to elevate their situations in life. The critical values of the American creed were equality, laissez-faire, popularism, individualism, liberty, and the constitutional rule of law. The American dream, first introduced to the nation in the 19th century, was purposed to balance the aforementioned creedal values to generate and maintain a competitive, open, and entrepreneurial community with equal and widely available opportunities for success. The American dream strongly emphasizes equality, liberty, and equal opportunities, which were supposed to be offered to every citizen upon the Declaration of Independence and rooted in the constitution. But was equality provided for all Americans then, and what changes occurred in the 20th century regarding the same?
Equality is a word that has challenged society for decades. Equality is the state of being equal in opportunities, rights, and status. Social equality, defined in the same line as equality, is a state in which people in a society have the same level in particular aspects. Frankly, there will never be total equality in our communities, but certain aspects are extremes of social inequality for marginalized of certain groups that ring the alarm for inequality. In the 19th century, equality was unheard of in America. That era saw great inequality to the Blacks and other groups that moved to the country either to work or following action...
