Scoliosis is a common disease in the world. In the United States alone, estimates show that around six to nine million people are afflicted with the illness, whether in the light or severe form. Accordingly, scoliosis is most likely to develop before an individual’s ‘growth spurt’ during his puberty period (MayoClinic.Org, 2019). Although the leading causes of scoliosis for most individuals are still unknown, some recognized ones include muscular dystrophy and cerebral palsy during the individual’s growth phase. Although there is much research currently being done to combat scoliosis, one of the promising research is the proactive screening of the individual’s genome to determine the risks of idiopathic scoliosis, in one of the studies done by (Latalski, et al., 2017).
