The medium of the selected object is the internet. Ideally, the internet is an effective medium of communication and would help in transmitting the object over long distances. Besides, it could be argued that the internet is centrally organized to serve video, meaning that different types of videos from numerous providers would be distributed to large groups of consumers. Additionally, it is critical to note that the popularity of the internet has increased, and video watching times have remained significantly high for Netflix and YouTube providers. The internet is often similar to other media such as television, and people amount of time that people spent watching television has reduced since the introduction of the internet as a medium for watching videos. The technological attributes of both the internet and television are that they promote personalization, highly interactive, and advertisements during viewing.
The media object is delivered through the YouTube platform. YouTube is among the leading online-based platforms for watching videos. It is critical to note that YouTube is only accessed through the internet and cannot serve users in areas without connectivity. Besides, the object selected does not require specific hardware or software. Instead, most online videos fit in the screen on different hardware including computer, television, and the phone. Besides, platforms such as YouTube encourage online participation and also encourage the audiences and users to be more responsive. Additionally, it is necessary to note that contemporary media encourages users' active involvement and requires that the audience intertwine them with different parts of their lives (Sterne). For instance, YouTube has a section where the viewers can leave their comments about the video. Additionally, the audience can like or dislike a video and share it to other social platforms, including Facebook and Twitter. Similarly, on other platforms such as television, the viewers have become active fans and are involved in different participatory activities.
The content promoted is recorded presentations. The recorded episodes of America's Got Talent, a reality television show, are recorded and uploaded on YouTube to facilitate sharing. Additionally. There are no major differences between the content delivered on YouTube and that distributed through the television. Ideally, the internet was conceived to be anti-television; however, it has undergone critical technological changes that have promoted and made it possible for video distribution (Sandvig, p. 296-297). The key difference between television and the internet is that the latter enables the users to see the same content repeatedly, while this is not supported by the former. In this case, the distribution of the intent is considered more effective than the distribution architecture for television. Additionally, this would help understand why some television shows are distributed across different mediums, including television and the internet, to increase interactivity and make them accessible to users across all mediums.
