* Difference Between a machine and a tool
A machine is a device that directs and controls energy in the form of motion or electricity to produce a particular effect whereas a tool is mechanical equipment used to make work easier. In a broader perspective, a machine relies on power to apply forces and control movement to perform a required activity (askdifference.com). It can be driven by people, animals, and natural forces like water and wind as well as thermal, chemical and electrical power. In contrast, a tool is an instrument like a hammer used to facilitate an operation or make work easier.
* Difference between a machine and a mechanism
A machine is a mechanical device that uses various power sources to transmit energy or force needed to perform a specific task. Its primary function is to obtain the mechanical advantage. On the other hand, mechanisms are electro-mechanical devices used to transform input forces and movement into something useful within the machine (Steadyrun.com). The primary function of a mechanism is to transmit or modify the motion. Most importantly, a machine is used to transmit the force whereas a mechanism is not used to transmit the force.
