The world is full of leaders in different capacities, including governments, non-governmental organizations, and businesses. Some of the leaders do not have any impact on society. However, most of the charismatic, visionary, and transformational. They have made a good impact on the community and influenced positive changes. Such leaders exist in Buffalo, too, although others might have moved to different cities to pursue their careers. Some of these leaders include Byron Brown, Lewis Mandell, Ursuline Bankhead, and John Tebeau. This essay describes how these leaders ascended into power.
Byron Brown, a Charismatic Leader
Byron Brown is a government leader who is the current mayor of Buffalo. Before becoming a mayor, he worked in different jobs both in the private and governmental platforms. How he maneuvered his way and ascended to power displays his charismatic nature. The stairway to leadership is through being a servant first, and Brown served in different capacities. His leadership career began in 1993 when he won as a county legislator for Erie County against the incumbent William Robinson. This is the point his star started shining. In 1995 he won election primaries to join the Buffalo Common Council seat but lost the elections. He never gave up. By the end of the 1990s, Brown was a big figure who won elections unopposed.
Brown climbed the leadership ladder in the 2000s and became the first African American to be elected the senator of New York. The visionary nature in Brown made him ascend to power without extensive campaigns. He was endorsed by many for being a smart and charismatic leader. Brown rose into Buffalo's mayor seat in 2005 after a tight race to replace the outgoing Mayor Antony Massiello. His close competitor was Kevin Helfer, who beat Brown in conservative primary positions but luckily, Brown defeated him by a significant margin in the general election.
