Racism is a vice that has been with us for decades and has derailed collaborations worldwide. The article by Kuo and Bui challenges the carceral data collection that is being used to perpetrate anti-Asian violence (1). This commentary reflects on the intersection of data collection, law enforcement, and racial violence. In contemporary society, the role of technology and data raises concerns about the potential misuse of this information and the unintended consequences afterward.
