Always Home Cam: A Product Review
a. Always Home Cam: Description
Ring Always Home Cam is, essentially, a drone security camera. Planned to ship in 2021, Ring Always Home Cam enables users to secure homes while away via commands, on demand or programmed, to perform specific actions (Seifert). In lieu of several cameras mounted at several locations at home, Ring Always Home Cam is a fully-purposed flying security camera enabling users to detect any unusual activity at home based on maps built by users in order for Ring Always Home Cam to follow. The new flying security camera is, moreover, docked when not in use and as such saves on battery lifetime and storage memory. The soon-to-be-launched camera is expected at $250 market price yet is still in a prototype phase promoted to users online (McCarthy).
There are, however, some limitations of Ring Always Home Cam. Most importantly, Ring Always Home Cam, despite assurances of data privacy and security (Wollerton), Amazon's new flying security camera could be compromised, misused by law enforcement agencies or, worse, my criminals. That Ring Always Home Cam will be end-to-end encrypted is not, in fact, an enough assurance of potential date breach and/or misuse. The recent memory of similar incidents make controlling data by Amazon much more of a liability from a consumer's perspective. Moreover, Ring Always Home Cam's “shrouded propellers” (Seifert) d not, indeed,

offer full prevention against damage to property or hurting an animal or person. The design concept of Ring Always Home Cam assumes “blind” following of a user's map, when in fact a good many factors could interfere to make Amazon's flying security camera's an annoyance, if not an outright nightmare, at home. For instance, Ring Always Home Cam could simply be manipulated by a child at home and, if a certain functionality goes wrong, Amazon's device might, embarrassingly, record and share very private videos at home.
The Blackbird (Nightingale Security) is a similar product to Ring Always Home Cam. Conceived to offer 24/7 security services, particularly for industrial facilities, Nightingale Security's Blackbird enables users to detect and record unusual onsite activity. Similar to Ring Always Home Cam, Blackbird is battery-fitted yet, unlike Ring Always Home Cam, is charged at specific base stations after mission completion. Blackbird is also deployable at night and, unlike Ring Always Home Cam, is useful for commercial and industrial uses given an option to deploy multiple Blackbird drones should one or more drones run low on battery.
b. Public Sentiment
The public sentiment about Ring Always Home Cam is, largely, expectant and positive. Not yet in market to judge, Ring Always Home Cam is a novelty many expect in eagerness given wild popularity of drones in recent years yet also due to Ring's high-performing security cameras already available in market (Vigderman and Turner). Similar to, yet not for sure equivalent to Apple's great reveals every year f new products, Ring Always Home Cam receives an upbeat welcome in more formal reviews (Ludlow; Velasco). Specifically, Ring Always Home Cam is...
