What are the various roles in the ready-made garment (RMG) supply chain? How does Simco differentiate itself from the other manufacturers to achieve a competitive advantage?
The ready-made garment (RMG) industry is a complex and globalized supply chain with various roles. The RMG supply chain starts with the growers of raw materials, such as cotton and other fabrics (Khan et al., 2022). These raw materials are then sent to factories, turning them into garments. The garments are then shipped to retailers and sold to consumers.
Simco is a Bangladeshi RMG manufacturer that has differentiated itself from its competitors by focusing on quality and customer service. According to Uddin et al. (2022), Simco has achieved a competitive advantage by investing in state-of-the-art equipment, hiring skilled workers, and providing its customers with a wide range of customization options.

However, Simco's current approach cannot be sustained. This is because the company is focused on short-term profits rather than long-term growth. This strategy means it is not investing in its workers' development or improving working conditions (Fontana et al., 2019). As a result, the company will likely face difficulties in the future.
