Business and Marketing Learning Reflection
Part A: How I have Evolved as a Lerner
Several courses have been significant throughout my time in college. The unit on Principles of Marketing is one of the subjects that has been informative and educative in the semester. The first thing that one learns in this unit is the importance of distribution channels by marketing agencies. Before starting the course, it was unclear how complex the distribution of goods is, especially in a large market. However, the unit has been keen in helping me understand the various distribution channels and the benefits of having a distribution management system. Some of the challenges faced by the marketing agencies include natural disruptions such as floods. Other problems that may face distributors may include recessions or raw material shortages. The course has also outlined the steps that can be taken to make sure people mitigate against such disruptions. Additionally, I have evolved in the course of this unit to understand how pricing is done, the behaviors of consumers, and how the government can play a role in providing a conducive environment for businessmen.
Another unit that has been interesting and has helped me evolve as a learner in the course of my time in college is Communication Literacy for Business. This course has been instrumental in helping me understand the various aspects of communication and how communication can affect a person in the work environment. The course focuses on different communication skills, how to improve one's communication, and the best way to write and operate in a business environment. As a student of Communication Literacy for Business, I have evolved and learned that poor communication is bad on a personal level and has the potential of causing substantial financial losses for a business. I have come to understand that poor communication can lead to misinterpretation of messages, which has the potential of causing conflict in the workplace. Other challenges that may occur because of poor communication include delayed projects and loss of clients.
