Name: Course: Institution: Date: Leave it to Beaver Leave it to Beaver is a show that aired between 1957-1963. The family sitcom represents an American setting of four parties including; Ward and June, the parents in the family and Wally and Theodore, the kids. The parents and the older brother try all the possible means to protect the Beaver (Theodore) from trouble, but the young folk could not heed to the instructions given. Regardless of the mistakes committed, Beaver would always escape the realistic wrath of parents and get away with only a few words of advice (Genzlinger). The parents should have devised other ways of dealing with their son instead of assuming the mistakes done to moralistic advice. The American parents in the show revealed their culture in the moulding of children through guidance and not scolding or even physical beating. Besides, the show reveals another trouble maker, Eddie Haskell, who always managed to escape getting caught after getting in te wrong. Leave it to Beaver show reveals the settings and norms of standard American families in various aspects of life. In the first episode of season one, the show reveals Wall and Beaver in the bathtub after their mother had ordered them to take showers before getting to bed. The kids don't like the idea, and they touch the water with their hand as evidence to the person outside the bathroom that bathing is getting down. The bright young stars soil their clothes and towel with water as supporting prove to the undone act. All this time, Beaver is thinking about a note his teacher had given him for their parents (Berman). The mischevious behaviours of the kid make him believe that he's always in trouble. While in deep thoughts, a weird idea of opening the note to see its purpose crosses his mind and poor Theodore consults Wally about the issue. However, the elder brother does not support the idea. This action reveals an honesty in American kids, in the case of the critical problems. The main characters focused on the show are Wally and Beaver. Beaver has a hard time coping with the slow nature of the growth of television comedy. The idleness renders the character more free time to get into anti-moral behaviours. The characteristics described the pace of the broadcasts humorously by saying that fans have to detox their brains and have subsequent intakes of caffeine as they wait for the rewards (Genzlinger).
